Not a chance! Every lab session is supervised by our awesome staff — part creative sidekick, part safety guru. We’re here to help you bring your ideas to life, keep things running smoothly, and make sure the laser doesn’t secretly plot against us all. (Kidding. Mostly.)
-
Great question! Our laser is a total powerhouse — but it also costs a lot to run and maintain (plus repairs aren’t cheap if something goes zap). The extra fee helps cover the high-powered magic behind your projects and makes sure the laser stays in top shape for everyone. Trust us, it's 1000% worth it when you see what you can make!
-
Nope! All our tools, toys, and tech live here full-time. They’re like weird little lab pets — if they leave, they get sad (and honestly, so do we). But don’t worry — you’ll have plenty of time to make magic with them while you're here!
-
We’ve got your back with the basics! Things like Cricut mats, printer ink, and general tools are included with your lab time.
But — materials like paper, vinyl, acrylic, wood, and other project supplies are not included. (You get to pick exactly what you want to use — and we think that’s pretty cool.) You can either bring your own materials or grab some from the lab shop if you need extras! -
No worries — we’re here for that! Staff is always around to answer questions, give you a quick crash course, or help troubleshoot if something gets weird. You’re never on your own (unless you want to be, in which case we’ll cheer you on from a safe distance).
-
Hey, accidents happen — we get it! If it’s normal wear and tear, no biggie. But if something gets seriously damaged because of misuse (like throwing a laser across the room... please don't), you might be responsible for repair or replacement costs. Be kind to the gear, and we’ll be kind to you.
-
Sure — if they’re helping you with your project, being your emotional support buddy, or modeling for your shoot, they’re welcome to tag along! 🛠️📸 Just a few rules:
No kids — this space is strictly 18+.
One guest is fine, but if you want to bring more than one, you’ll need to get it approved with us ahead of time.
If your friend wants to work on their own project, they’ll need to book their own lab time. (Sharing is caring, but everyone needs their own creative space!)
-
Bring your project materials (like paper, vinyl, acrylic, wood, etc.), any inspiration you’re working from, and a water bottle if you’ll be here a while.
We provide the tools — you bring what you want to create with!
Heads up: no glitter, no confetti, and no super messy materials. Let’s keep the lab ready for everyone's next big idea. -
We do! We keep a selection of papers, cardstock, sticker paper, and other project basics on hand — plus some handy extras like filament, heat insert screws for 3D prints, keychains, and more. Check out our shop list here.
If you're planning a bigger project or know you'll need a lot of something, reach out ahead of time so we can make sure we’ve got you covered! -
It’s super important to show up on time! Staff needs to be present while you’re in the lab, and other creators might have time reserved after you.
If you're late, you’ll still only have the time you originally booked — we can't extend sessions if it bumps into someone else’s spot. Thanks for respecting everyone's creative flow! -
Yep! Drinks and snacks are totally fine — just please be respectful and clean up after yourself.
We also have bottled water and a small selection of drinks and snacks available if you need a quick recharge while you’re creating.
-
Yep — you gotta be 18 or older to be at THE JOY LAB.
No kids, no exceptions. This space is built for grown-up creativity, big ideas, and tools that require a little responsibility (and way fewer juice boxes). Thanks for keeping it all pro vibes and good times!
